I’ve taken delivery of my SpeedQuizzing Router/Hub.
I already have the SpeedQuizzing software installed on my PC or Mac.
I already have the free SpeedQuizzing Virtual Buzzer app installed on at least one compatible phone or tablet.
Connecting the Router Hub
Power on the router/hub and connect an ethernet cable between one of the router/hub’s LAN sockets and the ethernet socket on your laptop making sure that all three LED’s on the router/hub are on or flashing.
A green router icon in the SpeedQuizzing software indicates that you are ready to connect handsets.
Take the Tablet or Smartphone (with the SpeedQuizzing Virtual Buzzer app already installed) and join the Quiz WiFi network in the device’s WiFi settings. Then launch the app.
Input a team name in the app and hit Enter.
After a brief scan you should see a green connect button in the app.
(If the Scan/Connect button is not green then you have likely connected to the wrong WiFi network in the app.
When you press the green Connect button you should see the corresponding team name appear in the bottom left of the laptop screen as a New Connection.
If the handset won’t connect even though both the Router icon and the Connect/Scanning button are green then you can assume that either a Windows Firewall or Anti-Virus software Firewall (or sometimes both) are blocking the connection. These Firewalls need disabling on the Laptop.
- Once you can see your New Connection in the bottom left hand corner, click on the orange team name, this will allow that handset to join the quiz.
- The Handset will now automatically display a list of Buzzer ID sounds.
- After scrolling through available sounds, the desired Buzzer ID Sound can be selected by holding the clip name on the handset-screen until the list disappears from view.
- More info on this feature (and how to disable it if required) is available here
