You have been selected to optionally trial the new SpeedQuizzing Question Submitter feature before we roll it out to a wider USA audience.
In our quest to ever improve the quality and variation of our US quizpacks, (whilst maintaining our stance on refusing to utilise AI to create quiz content), we’ve created a feature within the SpeedQuizzing Question Manager that allows paying SpeedQuizzing customers to optionally submit questions that they have written and tested at their own pub quizzes, to be included in SpeedQuizzing quizpacks.
How does it work?
After an original question that you have written has been well-received at your own quiz, you can re-locate it in your Question Manager, (amending the wording if necessary) before submitting it to us to see if we’d like to include it in our own US quizpacks.
What do you get in return?
For every 10 questions submitted by you and accepted by us, we will add one SpeedQuizzing credit to your SpeedQuizzing account.
Quality
This will be very much about quality rather than quantity, so we should advise in advance that not all submitted content will be to our tastes. Some hosts’ question-writing styles will suit us more than others.
Guidelines
From time to time we’ll post updated guidelines on the styles and types of questions we are in need of. But this isn’t to say that you shouldn’t submit any question that you feel has worked particularly well at your quizzes and therefore would do for American audiences nationwide.
What to do
Observe the guidelines to see what we are mostly in need of before submitting.
Be selective. Cherry-pick solid, high quality questions after you have tested them at a quiz yourself.
Submit questions that are going to appeal to the whole of the USA rather than just certain regions.
Think about Pete. Pete loves checking questions into the system, but in the long term he is more likely to spend his time looking at questions from someone who submits 30 great questions per week, rather than 300 ok questions per week.
Use the USA difficulty slider to estimate how difficult the question will be for a typical pub quiz audience in America.
Use the age slider to suggest what age range the question will most likely appeal to.
Optionally use the Info box to provide info for Pete such as “This question is funny because..” Or “ I particularly like this question because…”. You can also include links in this field if you wish.
FACT CHECK, FACT CHECK and triple FACT CHECK!!! If you’re Submitting questions that are incorrect or have grey areas, Pete will be less likely to consider your submitted content in future. Always test content at your quizzes first. Don’t take any chances.
What not to do
Don’t submit every question that you write. Think about quality and what we are looking for in our guidelines. Submitting every question you write may well push you to the bottom of the pile of questions to be checked.
Avoid questions that have regional appeal rather than national appeal in the U.S.
Please don’t take it personally if questions are aren’t being accepted. Not all writing styles will be to our tastes.
Initial content guidelines
US sport questions that the whole of the USA has at least a passing interest in.
TV questions, especially ones about shows (new and old) that aren’t as popular outside of the US as what they are for you guys.
Questions about national celebrities, especially ones who won’t be so well known in the UK.
Questions about US national brands, shops and retail.
Questions about bands and musicians, especially ones who are more prominent in the US than the rest of the world.
Occasional clever or funny questions are great, but they don’t all have to be. A question can be good without being shocking, funny, or clever.
And finally, varied difficulty levels. We want just as many easier questions as we do harder ones.
Auto-Duplicate checker
Although it is a work in progress and may come back with the occasional questionable result, there is a feature built in that aims to stop you submitting questions that we already have. If it suspects a question is similar, it will display it on your screen to allow you to decide whether to still submit yours.
