Blackpool SpeedQuizzing host raises crucial funds for NHS Charities Together

`A Blackpool man has raised almost £600 for NHS Charities Together through a hugely popular SpeedQuizzing event.

Adam Vacchiano, 27, staged the virtual charity quiz after thinking about what he could do to support the frontline effort to combat Covid-19.

Using SpeedQuizzing Live, our free app and online platform that enables users to host and play fast-paced, interactive, virtual quizzes, Adam’s quiz attracted over 70 teams, many of whom were locally-based but some were from further afield including the Midlands and Lincolnshire.

Players were invited to make a £5 donation in aid of the charities supporting NHS staff and volunteers caring for Covid-19 patients, with £557 pledged so far.

Commenting on the success of the quiz, Adam said: “The idea for the charity quiz was borne out of me wanting to do my bit to support the massive national effort in play to tackle Covid-19. For the last two years, I’ve hosted regular SpeedQuizzing events so I knew that I could count on my quizzing regulars for their support.

“While I thought I’d get a reasonable turnout, I was blown away by the volume of interest and generosity everyone showed. My regulars were out in force, but there were a lot of newcomers too who had somehow heard about it and wanted to show their support.

“It makes me incredibly proud to know that the money we raised through what was a team effort is going towards supporting our NHS heroes, who continue to do an amazing job often in some very challenging circumstances.”
