SpeedQuizzing host smashes World Record for “Longest Marathon as a Quiz Master”

SpeedQuizzing is now officially the tool of choice for breaking a Guinness World Record it seems, if you are a quiz master of course. The record for “longest marathon as a quiz master” was broken on 14th & 15th April in 2024, using none other than the SpeedQuizzing Pro application, lasting a whopping 35 hours and 40 minutes in total, topping the previous record of 34 hours and 36 minutes.

In April last year, one of our loyal quiz hosts, Tony Murphy (pictured left) broke the marathon record at Salford University in Greater Manchester. Starting at 11am on the 14th April, right the way through to 10:40pm on the 15th April, Tony had to abide by the following rules: a five minute break allowed every hour, he must ask at least one question per minute and only 10% of the questions can be pictures or music questions.

By the end of the event, 3155 SpeedQuizzing questions were asked overall. Five hardcore teams stayed for the quiz from start to finish and at one point, the venue was filled with 80 teams.

Tony has now received his official certificate crowning him the Guinness World Record Holder.
Over £900 was raised for various charities throughout the event and the following days.
