Elite Quiz Event
2023 UK SPEEDQUIZZING ELITE EVENT
We are pleased to announce details of the next SpeedQuizzing Elite Event taking place in January next year.
Where and When:
The event will take place at York Sports Club, Clifton Park, Shipton Road, York YO30 5RE* on Saturday 28th January 2023 from 11am.
*For those that attended the inaugural event it is the same venue.
Format
Paul Sinha will be setting the questions as well as hosting the event. The main event will be for individuals and will consist of 175 questions with a good mix of high- and low-brow questions. The event will use SpeedQuizzing software with players providing answers via a tablet which we will provide on the day. It will be a mix of first letter of the answer questions and number questions; there will be no multiple choice. In addition we will also be running a free to enter team quiz after the main event for those who are able to hang around
Approximate Timetable:
11am onwards – Registration
12:00 – 17:30 – Individual Quiz Event
• 12:00 – 50 Questions followed by 15 minute comfort break
• 13:15 – 50 Questions
• 14:15 – Break for buffet lunch
• 15:30 – 75 Questions (comfort break halfway)
• 17:30 – Finish, Results and break for drinks
18:00 – 20:00 (ish) – Team Event
Players will be allocated into teams based on rankings from the individual results to ensure an even spread of ability. This event will be more of a light-hearted session and make use of the full range of of question formats. Questions will be from the SpeedQuizzing database and pitched at more of a standard ‘pub quiz level’.
20:00 – 20:30 – Awarding of Certificates and ‘prizes’*
* Prizes will be paid via Paypal by close of play on Monday 30th January
21:00 Vacate the venue and hit the many pubs/bars of York
